New Decade, New Start For Scarlet Wines
The following explains some exciting changes that we are making at Scarlet Wines at the beginning of 2020.
Having set up Scarlet Wines over a decade ago with a passion for bringing fantastic wines to our customers, we are now refocusing on that original vision and our core skills; selling superb wine, spirits and beers.
We have been fortunate enough to grow our café, deli, retail and trade business over the last ten years to such an extent that the business now warrants separating into its constituent parts. So, as of 1st February, we will be handing over the reins of the café and deli to Mike and Becky Antonini of Antoninis Italian Eatery in Hayle. They plan to offer breakfast, lunch, dinner and coffee in a similar style to now, under the name The Old Forge.
Mike and Becky are fantastic people and you will be in safe hands. We have personally worked with them at their original restaurant in Hayle and can absolutely confirm they brilliantly balance a sense of fun with great professionalism and some truly superb food.
Sister to Antoninis in Hayle, The Old Forge will have the same ethos of authentic ingredients, great flavours, and warm hospitality. With a small team of kitchen and front of house staff, they aim to provide a relaxed experience, serving seasonal, cheerful and nostalgic food.
Scarlet Wines will continue to retail wine, spirits and beer from what was originally our office and store next door to the existing restaurant; a smaller space, but one we intend to cram full of fantastic, and great value, wines and spirits. Wine lovers will find we have more time to talk, enthuse and advise, and for us it's an opportunity to return to doing one thing really well - sourcing and sharing the wines we love.
With our focus on interesting wines, beers and spirits, we will continue to service and grow our trade business for all of our restaurant and pub customers as usual, only with even more time and energy to dedicate to helping customers curate their lists, train staff and host events.
We would like to say a huge thank you to all of you who have used the cafe over the last ten years. It has been a pleasure serving you and getting to know many of you as friends and we know we will continue to see you regularly as our paths cross at The Old Forge.
The physical changes to set up this new arrangement will take place during January and we apologise for any change to our appearance over that period – please bear with us. During that month Scarlet Wines will be closed on Sundays and Mondays but open the rest of the week as usual.
Thank you again and please come and visit Scarlet Wines and Mike and Becky at The Old Forge in 2020.
